As part of the Department for Transports launch of Generation Aviation, Ben Smith, Director of Aviation at the Department for Transport (DfT) interviews Mike Miller-Smith MBE, CEO of Aerobility and a DfT Aviation Ambassador. Mike shares his personal story about his route into the aviation industry and his need to change career direction due to his own disability. Mike also discusses Aerobility initiatives, including the Armchair Airshow, Virtual Aerobility, Project Able, the Equal Skies Charter, and his involvement with the DfT’s Aviation Ambassadors and Generation Aviation campaign.

CAA’s 50^th Anniversary

1 April 2022, marks a very special occasion for all at the CAA—our 50^th anniversary. On this day in 1972, the CAA were established as an independent regulator of the UK’s civil aviation industry by an Act of Parliament. While the aviation industry looks very different now compared to then, our fundamental mission remains much the same of protecting the public and enabling a thriving aviation ecosystem.

Aviation and aerospace needs to be ready for the future and we need different talent, ideas and values to make that happen. We are committed to supporting the ambitions and interests of everyone to create opportunities which are inclusive and engaging for all.
