RIAT – Royal International Air Tattoo – July 2022
CAA STEM Ambassadors: George Monteiro, Mark Swift, Stuart Rankin, Colin Greenwood and Dave Emsley all supported Primary Engineer at this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo in July 2022.
Located next to the ‘Technozone’ Primary Engineer launched the Inspire Stage across the weekend, providing an incredible opportunity for young people to meet and interview engineering and technology professionals and aviators. Over three days Primary Engineer hosted 19 panels for an audience of 170 000. This included two panels hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Joined by Carol Vorderman who hosted some of the panels with the Red Arrows, General Charles Duke and Major Tim Peake. The panels also focused on women within the aviation sector and aviators of tomorrow. For the first time, Primary Engineer were able to bring together all 332 winners from their If I were an Engineer, What Would I do? [AB1] https://leadersaward.com/riat/ competition from across the UK in one display to showcase the incredible ideas young people had been inspired to design this year.
It was a pleasure to participate in a CAA panel facilitated by Primary Engineer at this year’s RIAT. We had some fantastic questions from the audience covering everything from the future of automation, hypersonic aircraft and sustainable fuel. It was good to see so many interested young people who shared our passion for aviation, and we were all delighted to share our experience of working in the aviation industry along with the wide range of jobs and skills required to support the industry. Thanks to Primary Engineer for hosting the panel. – Stuart Rankin CAA STEM Ambassador
